3 Pinned Instagram Posts Every Sustainable Business & Environmental Organization Needs on Their Page
Shout out to all the green businesses and conservation organizations. You all are the true unsung heroes.
You are putting in the thankless work for the love of the game, and we see it.
On top of the small thing of, you know, saving the world, you now have to be an all-star marketer and content creator.
Or do you?
Conscious Content Clips is a small marketing agency that exclusively works with sustainability-focused businesses and conservation- and environmentally-driven nonprofits to support digital marketing and content creation.
We exist because you shouldn’t have to be a business owner AND a content creator just to have a successful business.
Marketing requires so much time that is unseen, taking up too much of your time and energy if you let it.
That’s why we take digital marketing and communications off your plate so you can focus on actually running your business or organization.
If you’re not yet ready to leap, this blog post will give you an outline for the top three posts any sustainable business or environmental org needs to have on their page to grow their following and get more visibility for your mission.
If you’re ready to start working with us, start here.
If you’re ready to create for yourself, keep reading!
Welcome to [YOUR BIZ or ORG]
Your first pinned post focuses on your businesses or organization from a high-level perspective.
Address these main questions to start: Name of the business/org, what you do, who or what you serve, where you’re located, and how new prospects can get started with you.
We know this sounds basic, but we couldn’t tell you how many times we go onto a business’ Instagram page only to have to scour the page just to find basic information.
If your business/organization is mission- or impact-driven, this is the time to include that!
Remember, repetition is key with marketing.
You want prospects to know the basics about your brand/org, or else why should they trust you?
(If you’re not saying your business/org’s elevator pitch in your dream, do you even know it? We kid.)
Video is what we normally suggest, as you can use a voiceover to really tell your story, which is typically more approachable, creation-wise.
Write out a voiceover script and try your very best not to sound like you’re reading.
However, if carousels and text are more your thing, it can work just as well!
Whatever you choose, make sure to infuse your business or organization’s personality into it, too, of course through branding, but through word choice, delivery, etc.
First choose the medium, then outline your story.
Don’t be afraid to be vulnerable or share why you started this business/org to begin with.
This is the most calculated first impression you’ll ever get.
Don’t waste it!
2. Personality Post
This one is more of a wild card that is going to further reinforce your brand, whether it’s a business or nonprofit organization.
For many of our clients (and even on our own page), this is where we feature their products or services so it’s easy and accessible for the new viewer who is trying to understand who you are and what you do.
If you don’t have products or services, like our client Friends of Our Florida Reefs (FOFR), an example could be featuring a program or collaboration you’re currently part of.
For FOFR, they help promote the BleachWatch Observer and instructor training programs for scuba divers to learn how to spot and document coral bleaching as well as SEAFAN.
Not programs they themselves run, but have close ties to through the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP).
Again, this can be either a video or carousel, but make sure to organically hit on some key facts about your business/organization.
3. Contemporary post
This is your rotating post!
Our strategy is typically to leave Pinned Posts #1 and #2 up for a good while, rotating the last pinned post that will show up first in the grid.
As a contemporary post, this is focused on what your business or organization is doing right now.
Do you have an upcoming event?
A launch?
What about a movement you care about?
While the first posts are more directly focused on the business or organization, this one doesn’t necessarily have to be.
It could be a resource you provide or something to help your community.
This contemporary post stands strong when combined with the other two posts featured here.
It’s the combination that really supports your page.
Never Worry About Instagram Again
Pro tip: If you want your pinned posts in a certain order, you have to pin them a certain way.
The pin works in reverse, meaning if you select your first pin, it will land on the right grid area. The second will be the middle. The last pin will be the post on the left, which is the first post on your grid.
Instagram and every platform each has these strange little features and are constantly updating to change something or “improve” another thing.
We stay up-to-date on that info so you don’t have to worry about it.
Whether you work with us on retainer or for a project, you’ll see that life is easier when a marketing team is dedicated to your business’s success.
Feel free to refresh these pinned posts every so often, ensuring they accurately reflect what your business or organization is doing.
However, you don’t have to do it anymore.
Allow Conscious Content Clips to handle your marketing, and you won’t have to worry about it again.
We can manage your social media, create content, send out regular emails that drive the campaigns at the time, grow the email subscribers list, improve your website, build out a blog that makes you the digital resource of your niche…
